11:55AM - This is what we have for the first chapter... I think they need descriptions... same with the settin

Disclaimer- Neither Dylan nor I own Naruto. The characters that are ours belong to us though.

Sond’s A.N. – New story, two people. My friend Dylan and I really wanted to write a Naruto story. Therefore, we are. It takes a while to get it done because we both have different writing times. You may or may not be able to tell who writes what, but hey, it’s fun. With that at hand, have a fun time!

Dylan’s A.N. – Yup me type story. Me type good. Mmm, I like bananas. Do you like bananas? Banana’s are good for the body just like the zombie moogles. Mwahaha! Seriously though, I’m Dylan first time I’ve ever worked co-op on a story before so I don’t really know where we are going to take this. Leif is my character *smiles proudly* Hope you enjoy! ^_^

Behold the Ninjas

Chapter 1- Nature Implies

The wind blew through their hair. Though the sun was starting to come out and the wind had started to die it was one of those days when it was nice enough to go outside but just chilled by the wind.

Two students from the Village of the Torrent Wind were on their way to meet with the Hokage from The Village of the Leaf. Their advanced training sent them to wanting to set new limits for themselves. Upon hearing that Konohagakure was a village of exceptional ninjas, their journeys set their sights upon that village.

Lief turned to Kakou, “How much farther do you say we have?”

Kakou stopped on the side of the road to look at a flower that stood alone.

“We left a few days ago… we probably have a few more days ahead of us.”

Lief stared at the ground. His partner wasn’t the most motivated, but her patient sense of insight was enough for him to tolerate her.

“You know we should get going then.” Lief stated bluntly.

Stroking the leaves of the flower, Kakou looked up at Lief, “But we just stopped.”

Kakou was testing his patience. Slowly taking a breath, “You can take the flower with you, you know.”

Lief bent over to pick the flower. As soon as he did Kakou hit his hand away.

“No! You’ll kill it…” she sighed, “let’s just be on our way…”

He knew that would work. Lief was a transfer student, sent to the ninja academy in the Village of the Torrent Wind. He had met up with his current partner when practicing his teleportation jutsus. As he practiced, he tripped on a log like object. Upon getting up, he found that it was actually a girl lying on the ground staring at the grass. The trip hadn’t fazed her at all. They had soon become partners and wished to learn new techniques that could not be taught in their village.

They started walking down the road once again, coming closer to Konohagakure, where there they would learn to become better than they were before and learn arts of which their village did not know.

Lief stared at the long, stony road ahead of them; it seemed to wind on forever. Above them, the sun beat down with a constant whine of heat causing beads of sweat to form on his brow. Leif wiped them off absent-mindedly with the back of his hand pushing his hair aside. He looked around for where the shade had gone. The trees that they had passed just earlier -back where the flower was- disappeared. The road had opened up into a large open field filled with shoulder high grass. The road looked like a long scar cut through the middle of it.

They continued on, suddenly there was a strange yelp of followed by the rustling noise of something traveling quickly through the grass. Leif snapped to attention, Kaoku gasped in surprise. The rustling stopped suddenly and the world was silent.

“What was that?” Kakou asked, still staring in the direction from which the sound came.

“I have no idea but stay behind me just in case.” Leif whispered as he moved in a protective stance in front of Kakou, fists clenched and ready for action.

“Idiot!” Exclaimed Kakou as she punched Leif in the back of the head.

The blow was heavy enough so that he fell over his head and skidded nearly three feet on his back. He came to a stop sitting facing the grass. He grabbed the back of his head and rubbed it vigorously.

“Damn it! Now why the heck did you have to go and do something like that?” Leif said as he stood up brushing the dust of the back of his pants.

He turned around to see Kakou standing, arms crossed, with a smug smile on her face.

“I hate it when guys go on an ego trip, besides I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself thank you very much.” She nodded.

Again the strange noise echoed from the brush and the rustling continued. This time though it was making short cautious steps, coming closer. Kakou braced herself and pulled a kunai out of the leather pocket above her knee. She spun the small knife quickly around on her pointer finger a few times then halted it upside down in her clenched fist. She stood, knife in hand held protectively in front of her chest, weight on her back foot, prepared for what ever was next. She glanced at Leif who had moved to her side. He held his eyes closed and folded his hands in front of his chest with the second and fifth fingers stinking sticking straight in the air.

“What are you-?” Kakou started.

“Dodge left in three seconds” whispered Leif, still with his eyes closed.

“Do what? How do you kno-”

“Do it now!” Leif suddenly exclaimed

A dark blur leapt from the grass in front of them. It was roughly the size of a small animal about two feet in length.

The animal collided with Kakou who was too confused by Leif’s precognition to dodge in time. She was knocked to the ground; her head colliding with a small pointy rock jutting up from the path. Blood began to flow from the back of her head in a small steady stream. Eyes closed tightly in pain She gasped stiffly for air. The animal had impacted on her abdomen and had knocked the breath from her lungs.

Leif who had opened his eyes in time to witness the event stood dumbfounded at what now stood on his fallen partner’s stomach. Kakou, who had nearly blackened out from the blow, founder herself being urged back to attentiveness by a warm sensation moving wetly over her chin.

“Ha-ha! I think he likes you!” She heard Leif laugh.

Immediately Kakou snapped her head up off the ground to see her attacker but was greeted by a wet tongue lapping excitedly at her face. Kakou opened her mouth to scream but the tounge slipped inside her mouth before any noise could come out. She gagged and put up her hands to shield her face. With a disgusted grunt she pushed the animal off her stomach, attempting to sit up.

Her hand brushed against a soft fur coat. Kakou was still unable to catch a good look at her attacker. The animal hopped excitedly off and dashed towards Leif, tail waving so hard side to side that it made light slapping noises as it hit each side of its body. Leif knelt down and put out his hand.

“Oh you’re a good boy aren’t you, attacking Kakou like that?” He laughed.

Kakou stood clumsily, still dazed from the blow to the back of her head. She was feeling slightly nauseous and was having a little difficulty seeing straight. Disgusted, she spat out the remnants of the animal’s saliva in her mouth making a few exaggerated hacking coughs. She looked over in Leif’s direction. In front of him was a little wiggling brown dog standing up on its hind paws. Leif was kneeling down letting the dog rest his front paws on his knee and letting him lick his outstretched hand. He looked up at Kakou, face beaming.

“Are you okay? This little guy didn’t hurt you too much did he?” He put his hand on top of the puppy’s nose; the dog snatched it and gnawed on it playfully.

Something felt wet behind Kakou’s head. She reached back and touched the spot with her hand. It felt warm, she looked at her hand. Blood was smeared over her fingers. She held her hand out towards Leif.

“See! That’s what it did!” she yelled.

Leif, suddenly serious, grabbed the dog on both sides and held him still so he could look straight into his eyes. He spoke in a clear deep voice.

“Now puppy you didn’t mean to do that to Kakou did you? She’s just so cute you just couldn’t resist pouncing on her huh?”

The dog turned to face Kakou and gave a little whimper.

“Aww, see Kakou! He didn’t mean too. He’s sorry!”

Kakou looked at Lief and then at the dog.

“As much as that’s flattering, I suppose that you’re right. A little thing like that couldn’t have meant any harm. But what do we do with it?”

Lief checked the dog and found no marks of being owned by anyone.

“I suppose we can keep him. He doesn’t look like he’s owned.”

Kakou looked a tad disgruntled but agreed.

“As long as he doesn’t pull a stunt like before, it’s fine with me.”

Lief smiled and put the dog down.

Hopefully, He thought, No one will say they own it and we keep it.

A few days of walking went by. The path grew steadily trampled in appearance; and around it, trees grew in abundance.

“We should be very close now,” Kakou said to Lief in a somewhat relieved tone of voice.

Lief just looked at her.

“Well, you see,” Kakou said noticing the stare, “the trees have gotten thicker: therefore, we should almost be there.”

Her partner nodded and they kept walking.

Their traveling brought them to a clearing in the woods near a large river and some stone tablets. Next to a nearby tree, there was a log with shuriken stuck in it. Both of them looked around in confusion at the ground because strewn around were skid marks, burns, and a hole about the size of a younger person. Near the stone tablets were a lone chopstick and a tie from a boxed lunch. The two split up to look around the area. The dog followed after Kakou.

“Something must have gone on over here,” Lief called to Kakou.

“Must have,” she called back, “there are a load of footprints all running the same direction to a middle point.”

Both Lief and Kakou joined back together after a few more minutes of looking around and headed to the log with the protruding shuriken. Lief circled around the log and looked at it curiously. Kakou saw something glimmer in the light as she turned her head back to the forest. She walked over to it and picked it up. As she did, she felt something tighten around her ankle. Kakou gave a yelp as she was launched into the air by the trap around her ankle. The shiny object flew from her hand and Lief caught it midair.

“Looks like a silver bell.” Lief commented.

Kakou stared at him while she dangled upside down. Her scarf was hanging down onto the ground and her hair was messed up like a pom-pom. The dog ran up and licked her face. She struggled to get the dog away from her face long enough to glare at Lief.

Lief looked over at her and had to let out a snicker. His red eyes twinkled with delight in the sun.

Kakou crossed her arms. “Very funny…”

“I think someone had left that set and forgot about it,” he chuckled.

“Please get me down,” Kakou asked him politely in return still holding the dog away from her face.

Leif snickered again and pulled out a shuriken. He threw it with precision at the rope that grasped his partner. It sliced the rope cleanly in half and Kakou fell to the ground shoulders first, hitting it with a loud thump.

Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes as she rubbed the back of her head.

“That really hurt… you’re mean.”

The dog jumped onto her lap and licked her face once again. She once again had to hold the dog at arms length to keep it from kissing her face.

Helping Kakou up he replied, “You asked me to get you down so I did just what you asked me to.”

Kakou put the dog down and dusted herself off. It’s not like she hadn’t gotten hurt ever, just being dropped upside down from a tree wasn’t her forte.

Rubbing the back of her head she looked at her partner.

“Since this place looks like it’s been used not too long ago, I have a feeling that Konohagakure is not all too far away… unless I am mistaken because of the lump on my head.”

Lief knew she was joking as he suggested that they rest for a bit under the tree.

Meanwhile, in The Village of the Leaf, there was a loud ruckus coming from the assignment center.

“WHAT?! After all we’ve done you’re still just giving us genin jobs?!” screamed a voice from a young boy.

“Take what we are given Naruto,” said a deeper more calm voice, “You are still in training.”

In the assignment center is a group of ninjas. The one who was yelling like a maniac is a young boy named Naruto. He is about 12 years old but seems younger by the way he acts. He has blonde messy hair and blue eyes. Marks under his eyes make him look as though he has whiskers. He dresses in garb of an orange jacket and pants with white trim and wears a hitai-ate headband with the symbol of the leaf stamped on it on his forehead.

Standing next to him is his 26-year-old male teacher named Kakashi. With gray hair and eyes he has one eye covered with his leaf symbol marked hitai-ate. He dresses in black and wears a dark green vest with makimono pouches to hold scrolls. Around his right leg is a white gauze like strap and resting on his lower left back is a black pack wit shuriken in it.

Tow other children the same age as Naruto were in the group as well.

There was a black haired boy by the name of Sasuke and a pink haired girl by the name of Sakura.

Sasuke is dressed in a black coat with a high collar and white pants. He wears the same hitai-ate and shuriken holster as his comrades. His dark eyes glare mostly at everything.

Sakura is dressed in a red dress cut up the side, for easy movement, and underneath she wears green shorts. Her attire also consists of the same shuriken holster and hitai-ate as the others, even though the holster doesn’t seem very used.

All three children were in the genin junior ninja class and their teacher Kakashi was in the jonin elite ninja class.

2:09PM

Haven't posted in quite a while. I'm just waiting for Dylan to start writing again... for if he does not... I will have to kick him in the crotch with a rusty dagger... (yes that does make sense)

Anywho, so far we have up to where you first meet Naruto, Kakashi, and them... and there's going to be this joke that we always miss meeting up with eachother even though we are looking for each other. I think we may have gained a puppy too. I'm not sure... I revised.

Oh well, hope to get at least the first chapter up...
